Artists from the Western Wards will have their work on display at a Warsash shop as part of the annual Hampshire Open Studios event.
Rachel Russell and Peter Levy will have their stained glass, paintings and ceramic art work which have been inspired by the Hampshire landscape and coastline on display at Hardings picture framing shop in Shore Road for the August event.
Rachel trained as a Graphic Designer at Southampton Institute of Art & Design and uses the traditional methods of copper foiling and leading to produce contemporary stained glass panels and sun-catchers, sometimes adding embellishments with wire and beads.
While Peter, who was born in the county in the 1950s and has lived there, near the Solent and the River Hamble, for much of his life, takes inspiration from the coastline for his ceramics and use of Raku, which produces a crackled and smokey glaze effect.
He studied 3D design at The University of Portsmouth before completing an MA in Fine Art
Meet the artists at the Hampshire Open Studios event, which runs from August 17 to 26. Rachel will be demonstrating her work at Hardings on Monday 19, Wednesday 21 and Friday 23 from 10am to 1 pm and Peter will be there on Tuesday 20 from 10am to midday.
